Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, David Bowie recordings inducted into Grammy Hall of Fame

London RecordsA number of classic songs and albums are among the 2018 class of Grammy Hall of Fame inductees, including recordings by The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith and David Bowie.

Each year, a Recording Academy committee chooses select works to be inducted in a “commitment to preserving and celebrating timeless recordings.”

Among the songs being honored are the Rolling Stones’ classic “Paint It, Black,” Aerosmith’s massive hit “Dream On,” and David Bowie’s breakthrough single “Space Oddity.”

Albums getting inducted include Nirvana‘s Nevermind, Jimi Hendrix‘s Band of Gypsys and Queen‘s A Night at the Opera.

Overall, 25 recordings are being inducted, raising the total number of Grammy Hall of Fame recordings to 1,063.

“The Grammy Hall of Fame strives to embody the changing climate of music throughout these past decades, always acknowledging the diversity of musical expression for which the Academy has become known,” says Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the Recording Academy. “Iconic and inspiring, these recordings are an integral part of our musical, social, and cultural history, and we are proud to have added them to our growing catalog.”
